It all started with their passion to preserve their island's oldest Watershed in Bihiya, Atop-Atop...
The Bihiya Warriors is a GOODLand youth group formed in the watershed area of Bihiya, Atop-Atop, Bantayan.
Understanding how important the watershed is for their friends and families to live from, the Bihiya Warriors have continued to learn more about the importance of planting and preserving our forests and how trees play an ever-so-crucial role in the rain cycle. They continue to rehabilitate and replant fruit & native trees in the watershed area, taught by elders and open-source material online. They've also provided workshops to the neighbouring puroks and young people to educate and bring awareness to the watershed, including the importance of protecting & planting trees that provide us with the watershed they all so critically depend on. |
Bihiya Warriors x Mambacayao Youth Group
Exchanging Knowledge From the Bukids to Dagat:
The Bihiya Warriors have performed learning exchanges & activity sessions with the GOODLand youth group from the island of Mambacayao Dako. The Mambacayao youth teach coral planting/rehabilitation and the importance of our sea. The Bihiya Warriors, in return, teach the islanders about tree planting and the importance of maintaining watershed areas. Filmmaking Workshop: Another cross-group collaboration was our 2-day filmmaking workshop hosted by Cloyd Ribo from the GOODLand team. This resulted in a short film made in 1 day called “Sugdan Ko” (It Starts With Me). This was a collaboration between a local filmmaker, the GOODLand team and the youth from Mambacayao and, of course, the Bihiya Warriors. Check out the "Sugdan Ko" film below! The Bihi |
The Bihiya Warriors finally have released their own film! WAY PAG OTRO (Nothing has Changed). A film about their water source, a well that is 37 dupa deep (about 50meters deep). Click on the image below to view the film!
